Titling:
Most thriller films have the titles rolling over a blank screen with some non-dietetic sound playing in the background. The reason they choose to use this would be to set the scene and to calm the audience down. A good example of a film with this in is the movie sixth sense see below.
Camera shots/movements: Thriller films will usually use extreme close ups and other various types of close ups the reason they will use these in a thriller is because they will usually have small pieces of equipment or something small that is of importance therefore by using a close up or another type of close up you can focus on that with nothing else in the shot. Therefore if they where to miss this information it could potentially make things harder to understand for the audience.
Types of shot angles:
The types of shots we see in thriller films are usually low angle shots, the reason the director will choose these types of angles would be because they show status very well therefore it is a simple way to show the audience who is in control and who is the boss of the situation. This will give the audience a clear idea of who is the main character in the various different scenes.
Location:
The location in thrillers are usually mainly based outdoors but usually at night. During the day the are usually set in a remote building with no other form of life around them. The reason they are set in these various places are because the antagonist(s) are planning on what they are going to do in the night. And they do not want their plan to be found out so they do it in secret. The protagonists usually are in a secret location as well for the same reason.
Editing:
The editing in thriller movies are usually very slow paced. The reason the editing is slow is because there are very few high intensity scenes in the movies they are more about working out how to stop the deaths usually or who is the murderer. There are usually a lot of jump cuts and cross cutting this is too show what the the antagonist is doing while the protagonist is trying to stop him.
Sound:
The sound in thriller movies are usually high pitched and spooky sounding. The reason for this would be; they would need set the scene and a piece of sound is a very good way to get the audience into the movie. By having the spooky music it will get the audience prepared for the scene they are about to see. They also use a lot of stings in the music
