A film distributor is a company or individual responsible for the marketing of a film. The distributor may set the release date of a film and the method by which a film is set to be released and made available for viewing: for example it could be released straight onto DVD or may be released in cinemas. A distribute will also make the decision on things like whether to release the film on DVD and if to make it a Blu Ray and various different decisions like these once the movie has been released.
The production company may be directly responsible for the funding of the film this may be done in various different ways for example through parent company, partners, or private investor/s. It handles the budgeting, scheduling, scripting, the supply with talent and resources, the organization of staff, the production itself, post-production, distribution, and marketing. Production companies are often either owned or under contract with a media conglomerate, film studio, entertainment company, or Motion Picture Company, who act as the production company's partner or parent company. This has become known as the "studio system". They can also be mainstream independent or completely independent. In the case of TV, a TV production company would serve under a television network. Production companies can work
together in co-productions.
This is the difference between the two. To summarize the distributor will usually handle things once the film has been shot. And the production company will usually handle things before the movie has been shot.

The kind of films that Dimension Films produce are thrillers usually are big blockbuster films like scream and the mummy. they are based in america and i would consider them to be a very big distributor. They have had major successes in there film particularly in the mummy and the scream series. They would target a wide variety of people some younger people aged 12 and up in the mummy series and 15 and up in the scream series.
I believe that we should re think our choice of this distributor because they are linked with big budget blockbusters and we are the complete opposite.

The name of our production company is psycho productions. We have chosen this name because we feel that it links very well with our film. Because of this we feel like the audience will know that our production is a thriller and get a better understanding of what the film is about.
The logo we created portrays our company very well because the font is very out of the ordinary and is not a clear pretty font and could be seen as strange or maybe even twisted again something that we feel portrays our film very well.
